This is Monkey's first post to the Midtown Monkey blog!
Hello, all! Thanks for checking out my blog…I know if there’s one thing the world needs it’s more blogs, amirite? 😀 In this blog expect to see random and sporadic posts about Midtown Sacramento and the greater Sacramento area, including fun things to do, great food and drinks, beautiful local art, and other hopefully interesting tidbits. I’ve been procrastinating on this blog for WELL over two years (wish it were an Olympic sport), so I may write about some past experiences while I get warmed up, especially if I feel they are of particular interest, but most of the posts should be about current events. I will categorize posts about the past as “Flashbacks.”
I will also have some additional custom post categories: “Monkey’s Choice” will highlight particularly great things I find in the area that I would recommend you experience for yourself. “Flinging Poo” will cover food, drinks, and other experiences that are bad, perhaps hilariously so, or just plain wrong…kind of a general vent. I will add other categories along the way, such as one to spotlight local Sacramentans, or whatever else feels right.
At the top of the sidebar I will sporadically post what I call my “morning song.” Basically, my stupid brain wakes me up every morning (often before my alarm goes off) with a random song, sometimes one I haven’t heard since childhood. Maybe an old commercial jingle. Maybe a song I only know one word of so it drives me insane. You name it. I thought it might be fun to post these, but maybe it isn’t. Either way it’s happening. I will also be adding a “Word on the Street” section of funny snippets of conversation I may overhear when out and about. These will of course be anonymous. Not trying to shame anyone, just wanting to add some Sacramento flavor to the blog.
If people dig my blog and I get a good local following I also have some ideas for events and games in Sacramento…but let’s not put the cart before the horse. For now I just want to get this blog launched, and start planning my next post. I hope you enjoy!
